Marston's Pottery

My pottery is highly functional while being a work of art. Each piece is
unique. Along with the bowls I make mugs, pitchers, plates, urns,
vases, water coolers and often experiment with other pieces.
Form is important to me so I first concentrate on "throwing"
an elegant well balanced and lightweight piece.
Next I may carve into it while it is "leatherhard"
state with my style which is reminiscent of Van Gogh
(who I greatly admire) or press one of my own
designs into the side. I also like to use the contrast
between the clay and the glaze and will use a wax resist

to paint/create a design on the side after the piece is bisqued (the first low fire)
or rub the glaze off a stamped design which leaves red/brown clay color design
    on a usually blue background.
